Bad Website

The bad website I will be talking about is http://www.thecreationmusuem.org/. In my opinion, this is a very horrible website. If I did not move my cursor over the circled area, I would not have discovered the navigations. This is bad as the users would be frustrated with the website as they would not know how to browse the website. The worst thing is, after discovering the navigations, they would be even more frustrated as it consist of only 3 navigations but none of them is really useful and informative. This goes to show that the website is rather empty, which was proved to be so after exploring it. This could mean that the creator of this website did not plan thoroughly on what his objective and purpose of this website is. This is a total wrong practice as it is essential to plan the purpose of creating a website, so as to create a desirable website.

Another bad point about this website is that, the text colour is too colourful and fanciful. This gives a very disoriented and messy feeling. The website also did not use any of the C.R.A.P principles. C.R.A.P principle is necessary in managing a good website.

In conclusion, this website lacks content, thus making it very empty. This website seem to be created with no purpose, which is not a good practice. The website also did not use any of the C.R.A.P principle.

What I've learned?

I have learned that it is important to plan my website carefully and thoroughly. In addition, i should use C.R.A.P principle in my website.

Good Website

The good website I will be talking about is http://www.prada.com/. This a very interesting website as each time you access the website, the background picture changes. Thus, giving users who frequent the site a very different feeling each time, instead of facing the same old background picture everytime. The above are examples of two different background pictures from the website. As you can see, the colours used is contrasting, which fulfills one of the C.R.A.P principles. This website has a simple outlook when first accessed. It automatically shows all its navigation tools upon entering the website. This is an advantage as it does not confuse the user on how to browse the site.

This website uses navigations. This is extremely beneficial as it keeps the webpage organised. Navigation tools also guides the user through the website on where to find the information the user wishes to acquire. The navigation tools is also nicely aligned. Alignment is important as it gives the webpage an organised and neat look.

The navigation tools are divided in to main and sub navigation headings. This makes it even easier for the user to find the various information he/she is looking for.

The above images are examples of good proximity. When many images are close proximity to each other, it appears as one visual unit instead of separate images. This also fulfills one of the C.R.A.P principles.
This website uses embedded Cascading Style Sheet(CSS). Embedded CSS is extremely useful for maintaining consistency throughout the website. Consistency is very important as it tells the user that he is still viewing the right website. A sudden change in background colour would make the user worried as he might think that he has moved away from the website he initially wanted to browse.
What I have learned?
I have learned that it is important to include navigation tools in my website as it helps to guide the user throughout the webpage as well as keep my website organised. I have also learned that the C.R.A.P principles are very important. Lastly, I have learned that CSS is very beneficial and useful in creating a good webpage.
